The good stuff

It’s weirdly satisfying to watch connections light up in real time. I opened my browser and saw an ad tracker from some obscure domain trying to ping home - boom, blocked by default. The per-app rules are clean and easy to tweak. I blocked my music app from accessing the internet entirely, and suddenly no more “sync with cloud” nonsense. It also lets you block traffic from certain countries - useful if you’re paranoid about data being routed through sketchy places. And yeah, it blocks ads and trackers system-wide. The not-so-good

It’s not perfect. The interface is… functional, not flashy. You get what you need, but there’s no polish. Also, since it’s open source and unknown developer, I did double-check the GitHub repo just to make sure it wasn’t shipping anything weird. That said, nothing screamed red flag. One thing I wish it had? A quick toggle to allow all apps temporarily while debugging. Right now you have to go in and edit each one. Annoying if you’re testing something. And honestly, if you’re someone who just wants everything to work without thinking, this might feel too hands-on. It’s not a “set it and forget it” tool.

If you care about privacy and want actual control over your network traffic, Safing Portmaster - Download for Windows is a solid choice.
