Little Nightmares III for Xbox One

The good stuff

Low and Alone are such a smart duo. Low’s bow lets you pick off enemies from a distance, while Alone’s wrench can break things open or swing at threats up close. I remember one moment in the candy factory where I had to use both - shoot a lever from afar with an arrow, then have Alone smash a wall behind it to trigger a path. It felt clever, not forced. The environments are insane too. That Necropolis with its upside-down buildings and floating skeletons? Chilling. And the way they build tension without dialogue - just sounds, shadows, and what’s hidden just out of view - is top-tier storytelling. Feels like playing a silent horror film with agency.

The not-so-good

It drags in spots. Like, really drags. Some puzzles take longer than they should, and the pacing gets uneven. You’ll be sprinting from a giant shadow creature, then suddenly stuck solving a riddle in a room full of mannequins that look like they’re judging you. Also, the game doesn’t explain much. If you’re not already deep into the lore, you might feel lost. And no, there’s no multiplayer or co-op beyond the two characters working together - which is fine, but don’t expect more. If you’re looking for action, this isn’t it. It’s slow, deliberate, and sometimes frustratingly vague.

Bottom line

If you loved the first two Little Nightmares games, you’ll probably enjoy this one. It keeps the same eerie vibe and tight design, even if it stumbles a bit in pacing. Not a must-play for everyone, but if you’re into psychological horror with visual flair, go ahead and dive in. It’s not free, but it’s worth the price if you’re into this kind of thing. And yeah, it runs on PS5 via Xbox One backward compatibility - works fine, no major hiccups. Just don’t expect fireworks. Expect nightmares instead.
