The good stuff

Man, the read-along books are smooth. The voices are clear, and the animations aren’t distracting - they actually help with comprehension. Like, there’s this one where you’re helping a family set the table, and each item you tap says its Hebrew name in context. It clicks better than flashcards ever did. And the song clips for holidays? She’s been humming “Echad Mi Yodea” all week. Also, the recording feature is nice - she can record herself reading, then play it back. No judgment from me, but she actually listened to it twice trying to fix her pronunciation.

The not-so-good

It’s definitely designed for classroom use, so if you're just casually browsing at home, the structure feels a bit rigid. There’s no free-play mode - everything’s tied to a lesson path. And yeah, you need a username and password from a teacher or school. That’s not a dealbreaker, but if your kid isn’t part of a program using iTaLAM, it’s locked out. Also, the interface is clean but not super intuitive for younger kids. My niece had to ask me three times what the “next” button was. Not a big issue, but worth noting.

Bottom line

If your kid’s school uses iTaLAM, download it - it’s genuinely helpful and way more engaging than most apps in the education-reference category. But if you’re just looking for a standalone Hebrew learning tool for iPhone, it’s not really built for that. Still, if you’ve got access, it’s worth the space. A few tweaks and it’d be perfect. For now, it’s a solid pick for families already in the loop.
