The good stuff

Man, the block-placement system is so smooth it almost feels like cheating. You just click and drag to place walls, floors, and platforms - no fiddly menus. And the weapons? They’re not just placeholder sprites. You can drop down an RPG, a shotgun, even a flamethrower, and they actually behave like real FPS guns. I made a tiny maze with a hidden sniper spot and set up a 3v3 deathmatch with friends over Discord. We were laughing at how dumb the physics were - like when someone got launched into the ceiling because they jumped too close to a rocket explosion - but it was still fun. The community aspect is solid too. There are already some wild maps out there, like a zombie-filled cityscape with a spinning Ferris wheel as a spawn point. Kinda niche, but cool.

The not-so-good

It’s definitely rough around the edges. The camera controls are stiff if you’re trying to fine-tune placement. And yeah, it’s only for Mac - which is weird since the title says “for Nintendo Switch,” but it’s not actually on Switch. That part confused me at first. Also, the game doesn’t save progress automatically. I lost a half-finished map once because I forgot to hit export. Not a dealbreaker, but annoying. And the visual style is… basic. It’s not bad, just plain. Think early Minecraft meets Doom 2 with no texture polish. If you’re looking for something flashy or high-res, this isn’t it. Also, multiplayer is limited to local split-screen or online via third-party tools - no built-in lobby system.

If you're a Mac user who wants to play around with level design without a steep learning curve, Gunscape for Nintendo Switch for Mac is worth the download. It’s free, lightweight, and surprisingly engaging. It’s not going to replace Unreal Engine, but for casual fun and quick builds, it hits the mark.
